Local notes
Geist is a reservoir, not a town
Citizens Energy Group owns a 20-foot easement along Geist's shoreline, and its Geist–Morse construction application requires drawings that show it. Docks must be anchored to shore and boathouse roofs must be flat, so shoreline projects need review before work starts.

USGS surveys measured Geist Reservoir at 1,853 acres in 2016, with sediment building up about 0.2 inch per year. In May 2026 a Hamilton County judge approved a petition to form a conservancy district that could fund dredging and shoreline work.

It depends on the address. The Geist area spans Marion, Hamilton and Hancock counties, and portions of Fishers, Indianapolis, Lawrence and McCordsville.
02Who controls the water level at Geist Reservoir?
Citizens Energy Group operates the reservoir and publishes its elevation. The spillway crest is 784.26 feet.
03Do you cover the Fishers side of Geist and the Indianapolis side?
Yes. We follow the shoreline, whichever side of it the house sits on.
